L’ancien Président François Hollande a défendu ce jeudi 17 février, dans un entretien accordé à l’AFP, sa décision d’envoyer en 2013 des troupes françaises au Mali pour combattre les djihadistes. Mais il affirme qu’il aurait décidé d’un “retrait plus précoce”, dès le coup d’État de 2020.
Il s’exprimait quelques heures après que la France et ses partenaires européens ont officialisé leur retrait militaire du Mali, poussés dehors par les “obstructions” de la junte au pouvoir à Bamako, au terme de neuf ans de lutte antidjihadiste menée par Paris.
“L’intervention de la France en janvier 2013 était à la demande des autorités maliennes et des chefs d’États ouest-africains. Sans elle, Bamako aurait été conquise par les djihadistes et l’ensemble des pays de la région auraient été déstabilisés”, a rappelé François Hollande.
“Si c’était à refaire, je prendrais la même décision” car elle était “conforme à nos valeurs et capable de porter un coup d’arrêt au terrorisme”, a souligné M.Hollande.
“Si cette opération n’avait pas réussie, le djihadisme se serait installé durablement”, a insisté l’ancien chef de l’État (2012-2017). “Le sacrifice des soldats n’aura pas été vain”, a relevé M.Hollande. “Je veux les saluer”.

In gangster lingo french see Malians resources as ” cash cow” thus as plentiful as top rated dairy cow milk. Opportunity to obtain wealth was controlling point not intent to defeat terrorists which should have easily been done within two years after french arrival. It have been about ten years since french lead military team arrival. We should not ignore french military trained terrorists while prohibiting Malian military from entering areas of Mali where that activity was ongoing. In addition french made area no fly zone for Malians military. Terrorists used french restrictions imposed on Malians military to establish that north Mali region as safe zone for terrorists from where with french training they carried out attacks into central Mali, Burkina Faso plus elsewhere. Had France not ever came West Africa would have to degree necessary united to eradicate terrorists by any means available
. French by way of Hollander now speak as if ECOWAS did not provide necessary air support in Malians military offensive in central areas of Mali. That offensive at time if continue could easily have recovered all of Mali from terrorists.
Maybe best thing that could have happen to Mali is that french refused to come.
