I was born in region of America that had cotton fields. Plowing his family plus others cotton fields plus other planting fields with mule led my Dad to lie about his age of 15 years claiming he was 20 so he could join US Army but that led to him ending up in Korea fighting in China, Korea plus United States war. A Korean woman who was mother of his first child (girl) taught him enough of language that he also became number one interrogator in addition to being Frontline soldier.
A few times I played in cotton fields but my parents viewed cotton in bad light plus did not want their children picking it. They considered it too much work with too little reward. It seems to me to receive due reward from cotton you must complete chain of growing cotton, processing it plus manufacturing goods of cotton. That would be practical Greater Good approach. Of course you would have to have market for all your finished goods at profitable price. What are we doing in Mali with cotton chain.
